How to analyze roles and authorizations in the SAP system
Maintain transaction start permissions on call CALL TRANSACTION
Far more damage, however, can be caused by too extensive authorizations. For example, an employee may be authorized to access data for which he or she is not authorized. In the worst case, criminal activity can cause economic damage. To prevent this, an authorization concept must be in place that describes how authorizations are to be created and assigned to users.

The proposed values in the SU24 transaction are an imperative for the maintenance of PFCG roles, as these values are used when creating PFCG roles. The better these values are maintained, the less effort is required to maintain the PFCG roles (see figure next page). You may ask yourself in which cases it makes sense to adjust the proposed values, since they have such a large impact on the maintenance of roles.
Task & functionality of the SAP authorization concept
As part of the implementation of a security patch process, you will have to evaluate many security advisories, depending on your release and support package status. In this case, you can use the RSECNOTE report or the EarlyWatch Alerts to evaluate which security information has been identified as particularly critical by SAP Active Global Support. Since March 2013, the RSECNOTE report has only been very restricted and therefore contains only a few new safety recommendations. Nevertheless, it provides good guidance for the initial resolution of security gaps.

Since a role concept is usually subject to periodic changes and updates, e.g. because new functions or modules are introduced or new organisational values are added, role names should be designed in such a way that they can be expanded. Therefore, in the next step, define the useful criteria you need in your role name.

During go-live, the assignment of necessary authorizations is particularly time-critical. The "Shortcut for SAP systems" application provides functions for this purpose, so that the go-live does not get bogged down because of missing authorizations.

If the value of a customising parameter is less than the value of the corresponding profile parameter, the default value of the customising parameter is drawn instead.

After you have activated encryption in the SAPconnect administration and the Trust Manager address book is maintained for all relevant users, you can already use the encryption.
