SAP Authorizations - Overview HCM Authorization Concepts
The call to your implementation of the BAdIs is the last step in the process of storing user data. This applies to all transactions or function blocks that make changes to user data. Therefore, the BAdI is also called during maintenance by the BAPI BAPI_USER_CHANGE. You use this BAPI when you implement a password reset self-service as described in Tip 52, "Reset Passwords by Self-Service." This enables encrypted e-mail delivery of initial passwords within a self-service framework.

First, the Web application developers must implement appropriate permission checks and make PFCG available for use in role maintenance in the transaction. This includes the maintenance of proposed values in the transaction SU22. The SAP Note 1413012 (new reusable startup authorisation check) provides all the necessary details.

Excel-based tools that do not use the PFCG transaction in the background, like eCATT, function almost exclusively on the one-way principle: Simultaneous maintenance of roles in the PFCG transaction is no longer possible, and changes there are overwritten by the tool. This means that all permission administrators must work exclusively with the new solution.

After defining the roles and generating the corresponding authorization profiles, the individual persons in the company are then assigned to the roles. In the process, the so-called user comparison takes place and the role-specific authorizations are stored in the user master record. The master record contains all information about an SAP user, including authorizations.

If you get into the situation that authorizations are required that were not considered in the role concept, "Shortcut for SAP systems" allows you to assign the complete authorization for the respective authorization object.

There are several legal requirements that require a regular audit of your SAP system.

If you are using applications that access files in the DIR_HOME directory without a path, such as the ST11 transaction, you must specify access to the allowed file groups individually (e.g. dev_, gw_), because there is no wild card for DIR_HOME.
