SAP Basis essentially consists of the three classic software layers:
Resource management such as memory, buffers, etc
SAP administrators are present wherever SAP systems are used. This is now true for many industries and business sectors. SAP systems can be found in the areas of accounting, cost accounting, activity-based costing and controlling. In all of these areas, they ensure smooth operation and further development, helping the company to make internal processes more efficient and thus save costs and resources.
Of course, the SAP consultant remains in the foreground as a person and is the figurehead for our services. However, where it makes sense, they are supported by customized tools.
Due to the large number of different constellations of database and SAP software, the job as an SAP Basis administrator is very diverse and, in addition to the topics mentioned above, also includes the following:
There is an RFC error. CANNOT_ADD_PATCH_TO_BUFFER: A support package could not be included in the transport buffer. For more information, see the log file in the /usr/sap/trans/log (UNIX) directory. CANNOT_MODIFY_BUFFER: An attempt was made to modify the transport buffer without success. TEST_IMPORT This step checks whether there are still objects in unshared tasks that are overwritten during the commit. The log of the test import shows the cause of the error. For more information, see Note 42379. IMPORT_OBJECT_LIST In this step, the object lists for the support packages in the queue are fed into the system.
SAP recommends a role design for Fiori permissions based on the defined catalogues and groups in the launchpad. In such a catalogue there is usually a set of apps and services which is relevant for a specific user group. If a role for one or more catalogues in the launchpad has been authorised, the corresponding catalogues and groups will be displayed in the app finder only for eligible users when the launchpad is launched. This ensures that every user only sees what they are working with. Important: These Fiori permissions are maintained on the frontend server! Maintain catalogue permissions in the PFCG To add a Fiori permission to open a catalogue for a role, reopen this role in the PFCG in Change mode and follow the next steps: 1) Select Menu tab 2) Click on the small arrow to add an item 3) Select "SAP Fiori Tile Catalogue" Then select the corresponding Catalogue ID for which the selected role should be eligible. Now the role only has to be assigned to the corresponding users in the system. Once you have completed these steps, you will have the Fiori permissions you need to view individual tile catalogues on the launchpad.
For administrators, a useful product - "Shortcut for SAP Systems" - is available in the SAP basis area.
Backup policy, rights management and daily maintenance tasks are also responsibilities of Basis admins.
The SAP basis is to actively participate in shaping the rules and framework and the architectural guidelines, and bring in its existing expertise from the SAP technology environment.
