The prerequisite for employment is a relevant university degree (bachelor's degree, FH diploma) preferably in computer science, business informatics, mathematics or a scientific discipline as well as at least three years of practical experience. Ideally, you also have a completed scientific university education (master's degree, university diploma).
Following the recommendation of dividing the SAP basis into an application-orientated and infrastructure-related SAP basis [A4], Figure 3 shows a possible presentation form. The SAP-Basis interface function is structured into a SAP basis, which is close to the application and is responsible for coordination and communication with vertical and higher IT specialist and business areas, and a SAP basis close to the infrastructure. The infrastructure-related SAP basis in turn serves as the link between the application-orientated SAP basis and the infrastructure levels. Subject Matter Experts will perform the link task again. In the application-orientated SAP basis, in turn, technology architects are more likely to be placed. The innovation activity or innovation team aspect of the SAP basis is placed at the level of the SAP basis, which is close to the application, because the existing capabilities allow it to assume a leading, also coordinating role and acquire expertise both by adding the SAP basis near the infrastructure and the downstream IT departments. SAP Basis Administration Batch Control Job Control A large proportion of batch jobs run at night, while IT systems are available for dialog and online applications during the day. Meanwhile, web applications demand computer capacity around the clock. Even dialog systems are no longer in operation only from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., but between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. or longer. The time window for administration tasks is increasingly shifting toward transaction processing. This leaves less and less time for mission-critical batches, which can lead to disruptions and terminations. Whereas batch processing used to be a mainframe domain, companies today usually have to control background processing in heterogeneous operating system environments and client-server applications. For this reason, cross-platform, integration-capable job schedulers that can respond to unplanned events are in demand.
For administrators, a useful product - "Shortcut for SAP Systems" - is available in the SAP basis area.
SAP Basis is therefore comparable to the server and platform infrastructure and its administration in companies - as distinct from application and web development.
Scheduling the RHAUTUPD_NEW report with two variants has proven to be a best practice: Once a day before users log on for the first time (e.g. midnight or very early in the morning).
