Authorizations
Conclusion and outlook
Database layer: All of a company's data is stored in the database, which is located on a database server. Application programs pull the data they need from the database. This data can consist of data tables, applications or system control tables. In addition, the database also takes new information from users and backs it up.
The presentation layer is based on the software components, collectively called "SAP GUI". This includes several possible implementation variants: for example, SAP GUI for HTML (Web GUI) and Web Dynpro for ABAP (WDA). Since the respective GUI depends entirely on the concrete application, the presentation layer looks very different in practice.
Configuration as well as maintenance and backup
Our SAP Basis trainings and courses originate from our practical work in companies. All SAP Basis trainings for system administration and administrators are conducted by SAP certified experts, who know what they are talking about, because they mainly realize SAP projects at our customers.
It is therefore not unusual for the authorisation allocations to be regularly reviewed in the course of a revision or by external auditors. This is a very laborious process with SAPS standard tools. In this scenario, an authorisation administrator would first have to manually assign each employee to a specific manager and determine their roles. After that, these roles should be exported from the system (for example, to an Excel file) and then submitted to the supervisor so that he can decide whether the role assignment is appropriate or not.
Tools such as "Shortcut for SAP Systems" complement missing functions in the SAP basis area.
For the SAP basis and its employees, the change in self-understanding results in an attractive, responsible and demanding working environment.
This is especially critical if only spaces or alternate spaces are used for the user name when creating a new user.
